Levelland Lobos take down Lake View Chiefs at home

The Levelland Lobos sneak into the playoffs with their win over the Lake View Chiefs this past Friday night 53-48, in a nailbitter.

The Lobos started off the game hot as they were able to outscore the Chiefs 16-9, taking a seven-point lead going into the second quarter of the game.

The second quarter of the game was all Chiefs though after their first quarter, they outscored the Lobos 14-9, cutting into the Levelland lead and making the score 25-23.

Out of the halftime break, Levelland was back out on top after they outscored Lake View 13-11, extending their lead and making the score 38-34.

For the final quarter of the game, Levelland won the quarter outscoring the Chiefs 15-14 taking the district win and getting into the playoffs.

Leading the Lobos in scoring on the night was Ethan Salazar with 13 points, all from down low. Eryk Jones had another 10 points, Sean Landrum had nine, Graham Gibbs had eight points, Bryson Golightly had five, Elijah Jordan had four and both Nehemiah Sanchez and Ozzie Solano both had two points a piece.

Levelland shot the ball for 63% from the field while going 29% from three-point range and 47% from the charity stripe.

The Lobos were outrebounded in the game 32-to-26 and grabbing seven blocks to Lake Views three throughout the night.

The Levelland Lobos progress to 16-18 on the season while going up to 4-5 in district play sitting in fourth place of the district behind Estacado, Lubbock Cooper Liberty and Lake View. The Lobos last game of district play is against the Estacado Matadors this past Tuesday night at home for Senior Night.
