Roughettes beat Seagraves on Senior Night

The Sundown Roughettes took on the Seagraves Lady Eagles this past Friday at home for Senior Night where the team won 82-31.

The first quarter of the game started off with Sundown being able to get started early and taking a big lead as the score at the end of the quarter was Roughettes leading Seagraves 26-4.

For the second quarter of play the Roughettes would not slow down before the half as they were able to get another 19 points to fall for them while still holding the Lady Eagles to six points.

The score at the end of the half was Sundown leading 45-10.

Leading the Roughettes in scoring at the half was Aria Hogan as she was able to get 12 points to go for her in the first half, eight of her points coming from inside the paint.

Going into the third quarter of play Sundown would continue their dominance as they had another 20 points fall for them as their defense was able to only give up 13 points going into the fourth quarter.

For the final quarter of play Sundown would go on to outscore Seagraves 17-8 to take the district win.

Allie McCormick led the Roughettes in scoring for the night as she had 21 points, 18 of them coming from inside the paint as she could not be stopped from driving in.

Hogan finished the game with 18 after having 12 of her points come from the first half, Hannah Holdman had nine points, Yaya Lopez had eight, Aubrey Rodgers had seven, three players finished with five points on the night in Camry Jourden, Talia Acevedo and Emily Rodgers and both Jamie Sims and Kyndal Taggart finished the game with two points a piece.

The Roughettes progressed to 16-14 on the season while going up to 6-5 in district sitting in fifth place.

The team played their last game of district play against the Tahoka Lady Bulldogs this Tuesday as the visiting team to see if they make the playoffs or not over the Ropes Lady Eagles who currently sit at the fourth spot in district.
