The Whiteface Antelopes Boys’ High School Basketball team went 2-1, winning the consolation championship at the Annual Wildcat Classic basketball tournament in Littlefield last weekend.
Farwell 61, Whiteface 46
Whiteface opened the tournament with a 61-46 loss to 15 th ranked Farwell. Whiteface was up 11-9 at the end of the first quarter, then fell behind 27-24 at halftime.
By the third quarter, Farwell had a 49-35 lead.
Ethan Kauffman led with 14 points, followed by Jeremiah Rendon with 10. Isaak Soliz had eight. Auscar Gandara and Cesar Chavez had four each. Victor Borunda, Ivaniel Gandara and Andres Guardiola had two apiece.
Whiteface 58, Sudan 34
The Antelopes took down Sudan in good fashion, 58-34. Jeremiah Rendon had 19 points, followed by Isaak Soliz with 17. Cesar Chavez and Ethan Kauffman had 10 apiece. Auscar Gandara had a basket.
Whiteface 55, Denver City 48
Last on the list was Class 3A Denver City. The Antelopes won a tight 55-48 matchup with the Mustangs.
Ethan Kauffman had 21 points, followed by Cesar Chavez with 14 and Jeremiah Rendon with 11. Isaak Soliz had four points. Auscar Gandara had three points and Victor Borunda had two.
The Antelopes will be in Plains at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
