Antelope’s offense struggles Tues.

The Whiteface Antelopes proved the adage that it doesn’t get easier the further you go in the playoffs in a 70-33 loss to the Jayton Jaybirds last Tuesday in UIL Boys’ High School Basketball Regional Quarterfinal action at Frenship High School in Wolfforth.

The Jaybirds, ranked second in Class 1A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, opened with a 20 point run that only ended when Brighton Scoggins made two free throws with just 45 seconds left in the frame.

The Antelopes trailed 23-2 at the first quarter buzzer.

It was two and a half minutes into the second quarter before the first Antelope basket, from Jeremias Chavez and Whiteface trailed 38-8 at half-time.

The Antelopes trailed 60-18 at the end of the third period.

Ethan Kauffman had 10 points. Jeremiah Rendon had eight. Scoggins had six. Chavez had five. Noah Rector and Gavin Baker had two each.
