The Whiteface Antelopes celebrated homecoming with a 68-14 shellacking of the Wildorado Mustangs in UIL high school 6man football action last Friday.
The game was called on the 45-point mercy rule at halftime. The 45-point rule in 6-man football states that when one team is ahead by 45 points or more at or after halftime, the game is called.
Whiteface scored three touchdowns before Wildorado got on the scoreboard and led 448 at the end of the first quarter. Wildorado scored at the beginning of the second quarter, but Whiteface responded with three unanswered touchdowns. The last score of the game came on a pick-six from Jeremiah Rendon.
Wildorado had 117 yards total offense, while the Antelopes had 359 yards on the ground and another 52 in the air.
Ethan Kauffman led the rushers with 283 yards and six touchdowns on nine carries. Julio Borunda had 46 yards and a touchdown on four carries. Jaxon Heflin had two carries for 27 yards.
Damian Castaneda had a single four-yard touchdown carry. Jeremias Chavez had a single carry for minus one yard. Jeremiah Rendon went 3-for-3 for 52 yards passing with a 22-yard catch from Noah Rendon, an 18yard catch from Chavez and a 12yard catch from Castaneda.
Kauffman had four tackles. Jeremiah and Noah Rendon had three apiece. Chavez and Auscar Gandara had two each. Jaxon Heflin had an assist.
The Antelopes are in Kress next Fridy at 7:30 p.m. The Kangaroos are 1-4 and coming off a 60-25 home loss to Motley County. Last season Kress stunned the Antelopes 58-50 in Whiteface.
