Anton Bulldogs downs Dawson at halftime

The Anton Bulldogs took on the Dawson Dragons this past Friday where Anton was able to end their 20-game losing streak with a score of 57-12 at halftime.

For the start of the first quarter, Anton started off with the ball first where they fumbled their first possession away and Dawson took full advantage earning a touchdown in four downs to make the score 6-0 after they missed their kick.

The Bulldogs responded well though as in back to back possessions they scored both times missing their kick twice to make the score 12-6.

With the Dragons back on offense it would be disaster for them as the quarterback dropped back to pass the Anton pass rush got to him in the endzone getting a strip sack to give the Bulldogs a quick touchdown to make the score 18-6 with 2:54 left in the first quarter.

After another stop from the Bulldog defense they take it down the field and score on fourth down to make the score 256 with a made extra-point to end the first quarter.

The Anton defense was on fire though as on back to back possessions they got two pick sixes from the Dawson quarterback to make the score 376 with 8:11 still left in the half.

The scoring didn’t stop there as they forced a punt on defense where their returner broke three two tackles and outran the rest of the team to make the score 43-6 with 6:54 left in the half.

Anton eventually let up another score after they put their second string in to give them a good look to make the score 4312.

The Bulldogs got the last two scores needed to win by 45 points at the half to end the game and get their first win in two years.

The Anton Bulldogs played against the Kingdom Prep Academy this past Friday at home. Their next game is against the Lefors Pirates this upcoming Friday as the away team at 5 p.m.
