The Anton Bulldogs took on the Amherst Bulldogs on the road where they won 46-37.
The first quarter of the game was a back and fourth battle between the team as Anton was barely able to get the edge over Amherst 13-to-12 taking a narrow lead.
The second quarter was Anton’s best quarter of scoring as they were able to go on a big 18 point run while holding Amherst to only six points scored right before halftime.
The score at the half was Anton leading the Amherst Bulldogs 31-18.
Leading the team in scoring at the halftime break was Anton Bulldog Jose Avalos who had 14 points at the half with 10 of them being inside the paint.
At the start of the second half Anton would finally be outscored in the third quarter by three as they had their lead cut to just 10 points heading into the fourth.
For the final quarter of play the Anton Bulldogs were outscored once more 11-to-10 but would hold out from their great first half play that would carry them to the victory.
Avalos led the team in scoring as he finished with 18 on the night.
One other Anton Bulldog would finish in double digits in Shooter Campos who had 14 on the night with 12 of his points coming from long range.
Two Bulldogs finished with six points a piece in Gavin Martinez and Zian Martinez and Caleb Carlock finished the game with two points on the night.
The Anton Bulldogs progress to 5-7 on the year while going 1-2 in district play.
The Anton Bulldogs played against the Meadown Broncos this past Friday at home and will play against the Morton Indians next Tuesday at home at 8:00 p.m.
