Bobcats fall to Whirlsinds 83-32, in Floydada

The Smyer Bobcats took on the Floydada Whirlwinds this past Tuesday as the visiting team where they lost 83-32.

The first quarter started off with the Bobcats trailing early as they let the Whirlwinds get 17 points unanswered as they put up nine at the end of the first.

For the second quarter of play, Smyer had a tough quarter as they were only able to get five points to fall for them as they got outscored 30-5 before the half.

The score at the halftime break was Floydada leading 4714.

Leading the Bobcats in scoring was Micah Zapata as he had six points at the half, all of them coming from inside the paint.

Going into the third quarter Smyer would get outscored once more 20-6 going into the fourth quarter of play.

For the final quarter of play the Bobcats would have their best scoring output of the night as they had 12 points in the quarter while the holding the Whirlwinds to 16 points at the end of the game.

Zapata led the team in scoring for the night as he finished with 14 points, 10 of his points coming from inside the paint.

Mason Medart and Brayden Wade had four points a piece and Ryann Gutierrez and Rylan Smith both finished with three point each in the teams loss.

The Bobcats fall to 6-21 on the season while still struggling to get a win in district play at 0-10.

Smyer’s next game of district is against the Ralls Jackrabbits this Tuesday as the visiting team at 7:30 p.m.
