Eagles beat the Roughnecks on the road

The Ropes Eagles took on the Sundown Roughnecks this past Tuesday as the visiting team where they won 78-34.

The first quarter of the game started off with Ropes taking the lead by outscoring Sundown 1510 in the first.

The second quarter of the game was more of the same as the Eagles had another 27 points fall for them before the half while Sundown had eight fall for them.

The score at the halftime break was Ropes leading Sundown 42-18.

For Ropes the leading scorer at the half was Cutter Stumbo who had 10 points at the half, six of them coming from beyond the arch.

For the Roughnecks it would be Branson Sanders as he would have five points, four of them from down low.

Going into the third quarter of the game Sundown would get another eight points to fall for them before the fourth while they allowed the Ropes offense to get another 16. The score at the end of the third was Ropes ahead 5826.

For the final quarter of the game, the Eagles would get another 20 points to fall in the end while they only allowed Sundown to get eight more points in their final district win.

Leading the Eagles in scoring for the night was Stumbo as he had 18 points on the night.

Kade Franklin had another 16 points for the team, Darren Kizer had 14, Landon Nale had 12, Bode Franklin had eight, Brennan Bearden had five and both Branson Simental and Brady Bryan had four points in the teams win.

For the Roughnecks it would be Sanders that would lead the team in scoring as he had 13 points throughout the night.

Watson Evans finished with eight, Jaxon Rodriguez and Briar Miller both had four, Jayson Martinez had three and Caleb Clausen had two in the teams loss.

Ropes progresses to 23-8 on the season while sitting in third place in district play, good enough to sneak into the playoffs.

The Eagles played against the Wink Wildcats this past Tuesday in Denver City for their bi-district matchup in playoffs.

The Sundown Roughnecks will finish their season off with a 7-19 record on the year sitting in fifth place in the district.
