Indians handle Bulldogs on the road

The Morton Indians took on the Amherst Bulldogs this past Tuesday where they won the game 65-26, on the road.

For the first quarter of the game it started off hot for Morton as they were able to outscore the Bulldogs by doubling their points in the first quarter taking a early lead 16-8 at the end of the first.

The second quarter was more of the same story as they were able to stiffle the Bulldogs offense by holding them to only four points of offense in the second while putting up an additional 16 of their own extending their lead to 32-12 going into the halftime break.

Alex Lopez for the Indians would lead the team in scoring at the half with 10 points, six of them coming from inside the paint.

Going into the third quarter of the game, the Indian offense couldn’t be stopped as they were able to outscore the Amherst Bulldogs 17-to-9, allowing the most points in the quarter all game long. Going into the fourth quarter the score was 49-21.

For the final quarter of play the Indians would finish strong as they were able to put up another 16 points in the quarter while holding Amherst to five points. The Indians won the game soundly with a big margin of victory 65-26.

Leading the team in scoring once more was Lopez as he finished with 22 points on the night with nine of those points coming from beyond the arch in the second half of the game.

Two Indians finished with eight points including Anibal Casteneda and E.J. Rivas. Cade Lyon finished with seven points, Lane Lyon had six more for the team, Zeph Silvas had five, Jaeden Alvarado had four, Jorge Regalado had three and Andres Bejarano finished on the night with two.

The Morton Indians progress to 1-1 in district play while going 11-7 overall.

The team hosted their game against the Meadow Broncos this Friday to get their third game of district play underway.
