The Anton Lady Bulldogs took on the Amherst Lady Bulldogs this past Friday at home for district basketball where the team won 36-20.
The first quarter of the game started off with Anton taking a 82 lead over Amherst due to them being able to shoot the ball from long range as they had six of their points come from deep.
The second quarter of the game is where Anton would be outscored 5-4 but still hold the narrow lead going into the halftime break.
The score at the end of the half was Anton leading 12-7.
Leading the Lady Bulldogs in scoring at the half was Miliana Castillo as she had six of her team’s 12 points with all of her points coming from beyond the arch.
Going into the third quarter of play Anton would have their best scoring output of the game with 15 points scored while holding the Amherst Lady Bulldogs to three points going into the fourth quarter of play.
For the final quarter of play Anton would be outscored by one point but would be able to hold onto the lead as they let Amherst get 10 points in the final quarter while they had another nine to fall for them in their district win.
Leading the Anton Lady Bulldogs in scoring was Castillo as she finished with 11 points on the night and the only one in double digits on the team.
Alyssa Mancias finished with seven points, Isabela Juarez had another five for the team, Aspyn Cooper had four, Mariah Miller had three and three Lady Bulldogs finished the game with two points on the night in Alisiah Alafa, Tatiana Collins and Jessica Rodriguez in the teams win.
Anton progresses to 5-15 on the season while going up to 2-7 in district play sitting in fifth place in district.
The Anton Lady Bulldogs played their last game of the season against the Meadow Lady Broncos this past Tuesday as the visiting team.
