The Smyer Lady Cats fell 6233 to the visiting Ropes Lady Eagles in UIL High School Girls’ Basketball action November 28th.
The Lady Eagles are currently ninth in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches’ Class 2A poll.
Ropes dominated in the first quarter, scoring 23 points against a solitary trey from Jada Hernandez. The Smyer girls outscored Ropes 12-6 in the second quarter, but still trailed 2915 at halftime.
The Lady Eagles came out hot in the third quarter, leading 45-21 at the buzzer and continued their run through the fourth.
Hernandez was Smyer’s leading scorer with 16 points. Rylee Riedel had five. Kaia Brandon had four. Vannah Jourdan had three. Maegan Smith and Kira Posadas had two each. Dyamond Baker had a single free throw.
For the Lady Eagles, Campbell Latta led all scorers with 18. Lacy Bloskas had nine. Kandis Rodriguez had eight. Bree Stumbo, Bailey Turner and Madi Reyna had six each. Delyla had four. Rylee McDaniel had three. Paige Luning had two.
The Lady Cats played in Tahoka this past Tuesday for an evening game. The Ropes Lady Eagles hosted the Hale Center Owls on Tuesday as well in the evening.
