The Ropes Lady Eagles softball team traveled to face the Crosbyton Chiefettes this past Saturday, resulting in the Lady Eagles destroying them 25-6 across four innings.
It was a competitive game early on as the teams exited the first inning tied 3-3 before Ropes would outscore Crosbyton 22-3 in the next three frames, which was highlighted by a 14-run fourth inning.
The Lady Eagles bested the Chiefettes 11-7 in hits and 16-5 in walks drawn, while neither team committed an error on the day.
“We had some really good at-bats and capitalized on our opportunities,” Ropes Head Softball Coach Joey Ybarra said. “I liked our discipline at the plate and how we stayed within ourselves. It’s always a positive when you can put runs on the board while still having room to improve and raise our standard.”
The good at-bats and discipline produced several great individual performances including shortstop Braedyn Reyna going 2/2 with five runs-batted-in, four runs scored, two stolen bases, a home run and a walk, second baseman Marlee Molina going 2/4 with four RBI’s, three runs scored, a home run, a double and a stolen base, Brooklyn Hogg going 2/3 with two RBI’s, two runs scored, two walks, a triple and a stolen base, center fielder Karli Rhoads going 2/2 with three runs scored, three stolen bases, an RBI and a walk, first baseman Allye Bandy with three walks, three stolen bases, two runs scored and an RBI, and catcher Dacey Feldman going 1/1 with three RBI’s, three runs scored, three stolen bases and a double.
On the mound, Hogg pitched 3.2 innings and struck out seven batters, and Molina recorded the other lone out.
The win improves the Lady Eagles to 12-8 overall this season. They return to action early in the week at Kress before heading on the road to face Lockney on Saturday at 11 a.m.
