“They’re a really strong team, and I’m proud of how our girls competed,” Ropes Head Softball Coach Joey Ybarra said. “This group has done a great job all year continuing to grow, and you can see that in how we handled ourselves and found ways to score. For a team with a lot of first-time players, we're making steady progress and moving in the right direction.”
That growth showed in several great performances at the plate including second baseman Kambry Turner going 2/3 with two runs-battedin, a triple and a run scored, third baseman Ezmeralda Saenz going 2/3 with two runs scored, two stolen bases and an RBI, and Jazzlynn Perez going 1/3 with an RBI.
Other standouts included center fielder Karli Rhoads going 1/3, left fielder Syd ney Brooks going ½ and right fielder Laila Mireles going 1/3.
Marlee Molina pitched the entirety of the game on the mound, surrendering 16 earned runs on 17 hits and five walks while striking out three batters.
The loss drops the Lady Eagles to 13-10 overall this season. They return to action over the weekend at Hermleigh before heading on the road to play against Floydada on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
