The Ropes Lady Eagles hosted the Morton Maidens for district play this past Tuesday where the Lady Eagles won 82-6 against the Maidens.
At the start of the first quarter it was all Ropes from the start as their defense held Morton to zero points in the first quarter while their offense scored 25 points, to make the score 25-0 going into the second quarter.
For the second quarter of the game, it was more of the same story as the Lady Eagles were able to put up another 25 points just like in the first quarter but Morton was able to get a deep ball to fall for them to make the score 50-3, Ropes leading.
The leading scorer for the Lady Eagles at the halftime break was Rylie Lester with 10 points, eight of them in the first quarter.
For the Maidens the only player with points was Maiden Khloe Aguirre with three points.
Out of the halftime break, Ropes kept their foot on the pedal as they held Morton to zero points once more, this time putting up 24 points of their own to make the score 74-3 heading into the fourth quarter.
Finally with the game out of reach they just ran the clock down with Ropes still winning the quarter 8-3 to take the big district win 82-6.
Leading the Lady Eagles in scoring on the night was Lester with 21 points. Bailey Turner had another 14 points, Annabelle Falls had 12 points, Delyla Stark had 11, Madi Reyna had nine, Brooklyn Hogg had five points, two Lady Eagles had four points in Alyssa Welch and Karli Rhoads and Mallorie Perez finished with two points in the game.
For the Maidens the two leading scorers on the team were both Aguirre and Alexiah Garza with three points a piece.
The Ropes Lady Eagles go up to 20-10 on the season and progress to 6-3 in district play sitting in third place of the district. The Lady Eagles next game of district play is against the Seagraves Lady Eagles this Tuesday at home at 6:15 p.m. after they played against the Whiteface Lady Lopes this Friday on the road.
For the Morton Maidens they fall to 2-18 on the season as they remain winless in district play. The Maidens will play against the Plains Cowgirls this Tuesday on the road at 6:15 p.m. after going against the Smyer Lady Cats this Friday at home.
