The Whiteface Lady Lopes continued their winning ways with a 4-0 run at the Whiteface Way Out West High School Basketball Tournament last weekend.
Lady Lopes Hannah Blankenship and Timmyah Olenga were also named to the alltournament team and Whiteface moves up one notch to fifth place in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches poll.
Whiteface 66, Friona 15
The Lady Lopes opened the tournament Thursday by dismantling the Friona Squaws 66-15.
The Lady Lopes held Friona to just two points in the second half.
Hannah Blankenship led Whiteface with 19 points. Olenga had 12. Emily Blankenship had 11. Abi Soliz had nine. Lainey Sanders had eight. Kylie Deavours had six. Anais Soliz had one.
Whiteface 65, Springlake-Earth 42
Whiteface squared off with the Springlake-Earth Lady Wolverines later on Thursday, coming away with a 65-42 win.
The Lady Lopes led 22-12 at the end of the first quarter and 3821 at halftime. The score at the end of the third period was Whiteface 49, Springlake-Earth 34.
Olenga had 18 points. Hannah Blankenship had 16. Deavours and Emily Blankenship had nine each. Abi Soliz had six. Sanders had five. Anais Soliz had two.
Whiteface 48, Lockney 13
On Friday, the Lady Lopes downed the Lockney Lady Longhorns 48-13. Whiteface allowed just three points in the first half and Lockney’s total points came from four treys and a free throw.
Emily Blankenship had 15 points. Hannah Blankenship had nine. Sanders had eight. Jaedyn Rector had seven. Olenga had six. Deavours had two. Anais Soliz had one.
Whiteface 39, Plains 28
The Lady Lopes jumped out to an early lead against the Plains Cowgirls in the tournament championship and while Whiteface never trailed, the pesky Cowgirls would not go away.
The Lady Lopes led 13-6 at the end of the first quarter and 2011 at halftime. The Cowgirls matched Whiteface point for point in the third for a 29-20 Whiteface lead.
The Lady Lopes will be in Spur on Friday, facing Newcastle in a 6:30 p.m. game.
