The Whitharral Lady Panthers went 3-0 last weekend to win the girls’ bracket in their home Whitharral Invitational High School Basketball Tournament.
Lady Panther Paige Smith was named offensive most valuable player as well.
Whitharral 70, Hart 38 The Lady Panthers opened by dismantling the Hart Lady Longhorns. Whitharral was up 24-5 at the end of the first quarter and 40-13 at halftime.
The third quarter score was 61-28.
Madi Chavez had 30 points. Smith had 26. Rylee Kristinek had four. Kalyn Bates and Avery McCain had three each. Valeria Frias and Tyler Parkinson had two each.
Whitharral 49, Lazbuddie 30
The Lazbuddie Lady Longhorns proved a little tougher, but the Lady Panthers still had the situation well in hand by halftime.
Whitharral led 12-9 at the end of the first quarter and were up comfortably at 29-16 at halftime.
The third quarter score was 42-22.
Chavez had 10 points. McCain had nine. Smith had eight. Bates had seven. Trinity Coronado had six. Parkinson had five and Kristinek had four.
Whitharral 64, Springlake-Earth 42
The Lady Panthers faced off against a tough and prepared Springlake-Earth team in the championship.
The Lady Wolverines led Whitharral 10-6 in the first quarter, but the Lady Panthers came charging back in the second for a 28-26 lead at halftime.
Whitharral dominated the third quarter, leading 49-35 at the buzzer. The Lady Panthers kept the pressure up in the fourth, giving Springlake-Earth no chance to recover.
Smith was held scoreless in the first quarter, but caught fire in the second on her way to 29 total points. Chavez and Kristinek had 10 each.
Parkinson had six. McCain had five. Denae Sansom and Frias had two each.
The Lady Panthers will host Meadow at 6 p.m. on Friday.
