The Levelland Lobos were looking for their first district win this past Friday against the Borger Bulldogs, but fell short 3628 at Bulldog Stadium.
Levelland started out hot as they took the lead early by scoring three touchdowns in just the first six minutes of the first quarter making the score 21-0.
The Lobos would keep the pressure up and only letting Borger get a field goal off as the Levelland defense would stay strong in the first quarter. The Bulldog offense would make the score 21-3 in the last few seconds in the first quarter.
Borger would wait until late in the second quarter to score again off of a run making the score 21-9 after Borger missed the PAT.
Levelland would answer back right before the end of the half by breaking a huge 64-yard touchdown run from Ricky Rodriguez to open the doors for Levelland to score again and extending the teams lead 28 to 10 at the half.
For Levelland that would be the end for their offense as the wouldnt find any type of scoring after halftime and the defense would have a hard time stopping the Borger offense as they were able to come back and take the win from the Lobos 36-28.
Levellands rushing attack for the night was amazing as Ricky Rodriguez would put up 182 yards on the ground while getting two touchdowns on the night off of 17 attempts.
Through the air for Levelland it wouldnt be much as they were only able to earn 18 yards throughout the night.
The defense for the Lobos they had a rough time throughout the game as they were on the field for the entire second half. The team let up 278 rushing yards on the night and 133 through the air.
Levelland tried their best but were not able to hang on to the lead as the Borger offense took advantage of the defense getting their stops on the Levelland offense.
Levelland falls to 0-3 in district play and 2-7 on the year. The Lobos will face-off against the Seminole Indians this Friday at home as the Indians are coming into the game with a record of 7-1 while being 1-1 in district play with their only loss coming from West Plains whom they faced in the first game of district play.
