The Levelland Lobos took on the Estacado Matadors this past Friday during district basketball play where the team lost 104-58.
The first quarter of the game started out with Levelland trailing the Matadors 26-13 due to the Matadors high powered offense being able to score anywhere on the court.
For the second quarter of play it was more of the same for Estacado as they would outscore the Lobos once again, this time 28-17 and extending their lead by another 24 points heading into the halftime break.
The score a the half was Estacado leading Levelland 54-- 30.
Going into the third quarter of play Levelland coudn’t find an answer for the Matador offense as they would be outscored by 16 points in the third giving up 30 points while scoring their own 14 points.
For the final quarter of play Levelland would keep the game closer in the end as they were just outscored by six to end the game and lose the district matchup.
Leading the Lobos in scoring for the night was Jaden Castillo as he had 25 points throughout the night.
Sean Landrum had 16 points, Eryk Jones had seven, Travion Holland had five and Elijah Jordan finished the game with three in the teams loss.
Levelland shot the ball well from the free throw line as they went for 72% hitting 18-of-25 throughout the night. The Lobos also shot for 45% from the field while going 24% from long range in the contest.
Levelland was outrebounded in the game as they were able to grab 30 rebounds in their game while Estacado earned themselves 43.
The Lobos lost the turnover battle as they forced 14 turnovers while they gave the ball up an additional 26 times throughout the game.
The Levelland Lobos fall to 13-17 on the season while slipping to 4-3 in district play sitting in third place.
The Lobos next game in district play is against the Big Spring Steers this Friday at home at 6:30 p.m.
