The Levelland Lobos hosted the Snyder Tigers this past Tuesday for UIL District Baseball play where the Lobos lost 9-5.
Levelland was the first team on the board in the bottom of the third inning after Tyler Pemberton singled on a ground ball to second base to send in Anson McMahan and Kade Pemberton to make the score 2-0, Lobos leading.
The Tigers flipped the game completely around after they scored nine runs on six hits in the top of the fifth inning making the score 9-2 taking the lead.
In the bottom of the fifth inning Levelland was able to get three more runs after McMahan tripled on a line drive to center field and Rusty Johnson singled on a line drive to center field as well making the score 9-5 and giving Snyder the big district win.
Boston Winfield took the loss for Levelland as he threw for two and one-third innings, giving up one run on two hits, stiking out one and walking two.
Brayden Moore started for Levelland as he allowed four hits and three runs over four and onethird innings, striking out thee and walking eight in their contest.
The Lobos were able to rack up 10 hits throughout the game. Pemberton and McMahan each drove in two runs for Levelland. The Lobos had a strong eye at the plate as they amassed six walks for the game. Levelland was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. McMahan had the most chances in the field with six.
McMahan collected three hits in four at bats in the teams loss. McMahan tripled in the fifth inning, singled in the third inning and singled in the seventh inning.
The Lobos fall to 9-12-1 on the season and remain winless in district play with a 0-3 record. Levelland played against the Sweetwater Mustangs this past Friday at home as the Mustangs record going into the game was a staggering 6-12-1.
