The Levelland Loboettes hosted the Borden County Lady Coyotes this past Tuesday where the Loboettes downed the Lady Coyotes 61-34.
At the start of the game it was a very offensive game with Levelland being able to outscore Borden County 20-15, taking a five point lead early, going into the second quarter.
In the second quarter of the game it was all Levelland though as their defense was able to hold the Lady Coyotes to two points while they put up another 15 points of their own to make the score 35-17 going into the halftime break.
Emery Smith led the Loboettes in scoring at the half with 22 points, 15 of them from long range.
Coming out of the halftime break the Loboettes didn’t stop grinding on the defensive side of the ball outscoring Borden County 16-1, extending the teams lead to 51-18 going into the final quarter of play.
For the fourth quarter, Levelland put the final touches on the game as they were outscored in the fourth 16-10, but still won the matchup 61-34, at home.
Emery Smith led the Loboettes in scoring on the night with 32 points. Presley Smith had another 14 points, Kaylee Penner had seven and four Loboettes scored two points a piece in Sydnii Joyce, Leilani Sanchez, Destynii Jones and Brooklyn Cornish.
The Loboettes won in the rebounding category as they pulled down 33 boards while the Lady Coyotes had 18 rebounds on the night. The Loboettes also led in the Assists and steals category with 16 assits and 16 steals while only giving up the ball six times in their contest. Levelland shot the ball for 41% from the field while going 34% from long range while going a perfect 100% from the free-throw line.
The Loboettes progress to 14-3 on the season as they get ready to start district play against the Lake View Maidens January 3 at home at 6:15 p.m.
