Levelland Lobos dominate Snyer Tigers

The Levelland Lobos are keeping their playoff dreams alive as they took on the Snyder Tigers this past Tuesday night at home where they won 79-47.

The start of the game was scary for the Lobos as in the first few seconds of the game, their dominant post Eryk Jones came down with an injury right after tip off, where he was helped off the court.

The Lobos had to start the game off without him, as Levelland was able to score exclusively from three for the team’s first 15 points while their defense was able to hold Snyder to a minimum gain of points.

The score at the end of the first quarter though, had Levelland up 20-8, heading into the second quarter.

The second quarter had the Lobos still outscoring the Tigers 15-9, extending the team’s lead to 35-17, heading into the halftime break.

Out of the break, the Levelland defense came to life as they went on a streak holding Snyder to 16 points in the third quarter while they put up another 23 points of their own to make the score 58-33 going into the fourth quarter of the game.

For the final quarter of action, Levelland outscored the Tigers one last time in the game, this time 21-14, taking the big district win to keep their playoff dreams alive.

Leading the Lobos in scoring on the night was Elijah Jordan with 15 points. Graham Gibbs had another 12 points, Gage French had nine, Bryson golightly had eight, Eryk Jones, Sean Landrum, Nehemiah Sanchez and Ethan Salazar all had six points a piece, Eli Randol had four, Jose Muro had three and Ozzie Solano finished with two points on the night.

Levelland shot the ball for 56% from the field while going 40% from long-range shots and 50% from the charity stripe.

The Lobos grabbed almost every board out there as they were able to outrebound Snyder 38-to-20 while winning the turnover battle only giving up the ball 17 times while they forced 22 turnovers in the game.

The Levelland Lobos progress to 15-18 on the season while going up to 3-5 in district play. The Lobos last district game of the season is against the Estacado Matadors next Tuesday at home at 7:30 p.m. after facing off against the San Angelo Lake View Chiefs this past Friday night at home.
