Levelland Lobos fall to Big Spring Steers

The Levelland Lobos hosted the Big Spring Steers this past Tuesday for UIL District Baseball Action where the Lobos fell 13-2.

The Lobos were the first team on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Brayden Moore singled and R.J. Mireles doubled, each scoring one run making the score 2-0 early.

In the top of the second inning, Big Spring was able to answer back after they got six runs on six hits to take a 6-2 lead. The Steers had three singles, one triple and walked a batter to give them the lead.

The Steers had another run in the top of the third inning after one of the runners stole home to extend their lead to 7-2.

Big Spring made the score 82 in the top of the sixth inning after their batter hit a double to send in the runner on third base.

In the top of the seventh inning, Big Spring capped off their scoring with five runs on four hits to make the final score 13-2.

Noah Tienda took the loss for the Lobos as he gave up six runs (six earned) on seven hits over four innings, striking out two and walking one.

Tyler Pemberton was on the mound first for Levelland as he gave up nine hits and seven runs (seven earned) over three innings, striking out none and walking three.

Mireles and Moore were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Levelland. Pemberton, Jake Potter, Mireles and Moore each collected one hit for the Lobos. Levelland was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit an error, Tienda had the most chances in the field with six.

The Lobos gathered four hits throughout the game and had two RBI’s, one coming from Moore and the other from Mireles.

The Lobos fall to 11-14-1 on the season and go down to 2-5 in district play as they played against the Snyder Tigers this past Friday as the visiting team and get ready to take on the Sweetwater Mustangs this upcoming Tuesday as the visiting team at 7 p.m.
