The Levelland High School tennis team moved to 4-2 on the season with a 12-7 win over San Angelo Lakeview last Saturday. With a 4-3 lead out of doubles, the Pack went into singles a little shorthanded as all the boys, but the number one had to play a line up. But, that didn’t stop the Pack as they would get big wins from the 2-6 line. The Loboettes and Ryeton McMahan would play up at 4 line taking a win for the boys, as freshman Nathan Ellis would play up at the three spot and clinched the match with the tenth win for the Lobos. Senior Zoe Lara would take two wins on the day improving her record to a team high of 12-0 for the season. District play will begin Tuesday in Lamesa, as Levelland looks to use their moment from the pre-district schedule to open district with a win over the Golden Tornadoes. “This year, was one were we weren’t sure what we was going to happen,” explained Levelland Head Coach Jeff Braziel. “Losing four boys and three girls off our varsity team opened the door for a lot of unknowns.” “These student-athletes have stepped up to the challenge and put tons of hours into their game and each other,” he said. “Going into district 4-2, gives the team a lot of confidence, and shows everyone how much their work is paying off,” stated Braziel. “This is a great group of players that are just going to continue to grow. We will celebrate for now, rest today and tomorrow, but come Monday, Levelland will start hunting for that first win in district play,” concluded Braziel.
