Loboette softball finishes district in second place

The Levelland Loboettes faced off against the Snyder Lady Tigers this past Friday as the visiting team for first seed in district where the Loboettes lost 5-0.

Snyder first got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after their runner scored on an error committed by Levelland to give them the 1-0 lead.

The Lady Tigers had another run go for them in the bottom of the fifth after their batter hit a pop out sending in a runner to extend their lead to 2-0.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Snyder got the last of their points after their batter hit a home run to send in another two runners and herself to make the final score 5-0 giving Snyder the district title.

Aubriana Rivas started on the mound for the Loboettes as she gave up six hits and five runs (three earned) over six innings, striking out three and walking three throughout their game.

Angelica Gonzalez led the team in hits as she went 2-for-3 at the plate. Levelland turned in one double play in the game. Saydi Mendez led the team in walks as she had one on the night.

The Loboettes end of their regular and district season with a record of 16-13 finishing in second place of district.

The Levelland Loboettes will play against the Glen Rose Lady Tigers at Coahoma for their first round matchup. The first game is on Friday at 6 p.m., the second game on Saturday at 11 a.m. and the final game 30 minutes after the second game on Saturday.
