The Levelland Loboettes took on the Denver City Fillies at home for their non-district UIL 4A Region 1 District 5 High School Basketball Game matchup where the girls won 70-49.
At first the game would be a tight one as both teams wouldn’t outshine the other. At the end of the first quarter the game was be tied up at 17.
In the second quarter it was more of the first as Levelland would be able to pull away slightly making the score 33-31 with the Loboettes leading.
At the half the leading scorer on the Loboettes was Destynii Jones with 12 points with four of them coming from the charity stripe. Carly Tienda added another 10 at the half with six of her points coming from beyond the arch.
Coming out of the halftime break the Loboettes were on fire as they were able to outscore the Fillies 19-to-7 in the third quarter. They extended their lead 52-to-38 at the end of the third quarter.
The fourth quarter was more of the third as the Loboettes put the game to bed from their suffocating defense and hard nose offense attacking the rim and picking the defense apart.
The scoring leaders on the night were Destynii Jones and Presley Smith who both had 16 on the night.
Carly Tienda added another 14 against the Fillies, Olivia Velardez and Kaylee Penner each had seven.
Maddie Stafford had another five, Leilani Sanchez earned herself four and Mia Morin had one.
The biggest the Loboettes lead got was in the third quarter when they outscored the Filles by 12 points.
The Loboettes played against the Greenwood Lady Rangers this past Tuesday as the away team as they progressed their record to 5-1 after their win against Denver City.
