The Levelland Loboettes hosted the Big Spring Lady Steers this past Tuesday at home for Senior Night and UIL District Softball Play where the Loboettes won 19-5 after five innings.
Big Spring was on the board first in the top of the first inning after their batter hit a fly out sending in a runner on third base to take the quick 1-0 lead.
Levelland responded well as Adrianna Castellano hit a home run to center field sending in Saydi Mendez and Angelica Gonzalez to make the new score 31.
The Lady Steers hit a home run of their own in the top of the third to tie the game up at three a piece.
The Loboettes were able to break up the tie in the bottom of the third inning after Castellano singled, scoring two runs, then Aubriana Rivas hit a home run to right field to extend Levelland’s lead to 7-3.
In the top of the fourth inning Big Spring’s last runs of the game happened when their batter hit a home run into left field sending another runner in to make the score 7-5, Levelland still leading.
The Loboettes ended off their scoring in the bottom of the fourth after getting 12 runs. Gonzalez tripled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Diaz drew a walk, scoring one run, Paredez was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Mendez doubled, scoring two runs, Gonzalez homered to left field, scoring three runs, Delaney Delgado singled, scoring one run and Diaz doubled, scoring two runs taking the big district win.
Rivas started on the mound for the Loboettes as she gave up six hits and five runs (four earned) over five innings, striking out nine and walking three.
The Loboettes piled up 14 hits throughout the game. Castellano drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Loboettes with five runs batted in. They went 2-for-3 on the day. Mendez, Delgado and Rivas each collected multiple hits for Levelland. The team had patience at the plate as they collected five walks in their contest and stole five bases.
The Loboettes progressed to 16-12 on the season while going up to 8-1 in district play tied in first place with Snyder.
The Levelland Loboettes ended district play against the Snyder Lady Tigers this past Friday as the away team to see who takes the district title for 4A Region 1 District 5.
