The Levelland Loboettes faced off against the Midland High Lady Bulldogs and Tascosa Lady Rebels this past Saturday at home where they split the day.
Midland 7, Levelland 6
The first game of the day had Levelland taking on the Lady Bulldogs where the team lost in a nail bitter 7-6.
At the top of the first inning it was all Midland as they were able to take an early 2-0 lead over the Loboettes after the batter hit a pop fly to right field that was able to send in two runners .
Although they were able to take the quick lead, Levelland was not going anywhere as they where able to tie the game back up at two points each as Castellano homers on a pop fly to center field to send herself and Saydi Mendez home.
At the top of the third inning it was Midland once more as they had two more runs go for them, one off of a homerun slam and the other off of a double on a line drive to left field.
The Lady Bulldogs weren’t done there as they added another run at the top of the fourth from a double off of a ground ball that went into left field, Midland held the lead 5-2.
For Levelland though at the bottom of the fourth they were able to keep the game close as Delylah Paredez singled a pop fly to center field while that led to Tambree Vargas scoring for the Loboettes. Afterwards it would be Mendez that would hit a line drive to left field for a double to send Paredez home to put the score at 5-4 at the bottom of the fourth.
Midland got their final runs of the game at the top of the fifth as Levelland’s Rivera walked the Midland’s runners twice with bases loaded to send two runners home and with the score having Midland leading 7-4.
Levelland had the rest of their team’s points comes from the bottom of the seventh when Delaney Delgado hit a double off of a pop fly to right field to send Danica Rivera and Jazlyn Diaz home for two runs.
Rivera opened up the game for the Loboettes as she surrendered nine hits and five runs over four innings, striking out none and walking three.
The Loboettes totaled 12 hits throughout the game, Diaz led the team with three hits in four at bats. Castellano and Delgado each drove in two runs for Levelland. Mendez collected two hits for Levelland in five at bats.
Levelland 11, Tascosa 0
The Loboettes second game of the day was against the Tascosa Lady Rebels where they had some pent up rage in their matchup as they finished the team off in five innings.
The first point of the game came from Levelland at the bottom of the first inning off of a line out to left field by Castellano that send Mendez home after tagging up. Levelland held the 1-0 lead early in the game.
At the bottom of the second is where Levelland took their opportunity off of errors as Levelland bunted to the pitcher where she committed an error where the Loboettes took complete control of as they scored three runs off of Tascosa’s errors leading 4-0. Although it was a huge momentum shift Levelland would be able to get one more run after Mendez scored on a steal of home.
Loboettes would strike again at the bottom of the third getting two more runs after Tiffany File singled on a pop fly to right field to send Madison Seat and Rivera home to put the score at 7-0 with Levelland leading.
Loboettes get one more run in the bottom of the fourth from Mendez scoring on error by the shortstop.
The final touches of the game came in the bottom of the firth when the Loboettes got the rest of their four points from a double by Angelica Gonzalez off of a pop fly to left field that would send File, Delgado and Mendez home on the throw.
Rivas led things off for the Loboettes as she gave up four hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out six and walking one.
Gonzalez led the team with three runs batted in, File collected two hits for the Loboettes with two at bats. Delgado led the team with three walks.
Overall, the team had a good eye at the plate, collecting nine walks for the game.
The Levelland Loboettes progressed to 9-11 on the year as they get ready to face off against the Sweetwater Lady Mustangs next Tuesday as the visiting team to open up district play at 5 p.m.
