Loboettes take down Lady Mustangs

The Levelland Loboettes traveled to Andrews last Tuesday to take on the Mustangs and improve their record to 7-1 on the year with a score of 63-20.

The Loboettes went into the game firing on all cylinders. They started off red hot on offense as they were able to put up 18 first quarter points compared to Andrews six.

In the second quarter Levelland was able to take full control of the game only allowing two points while they were able to put up another 15.

At the half, Levelland was leading Andrews 35-8 due to their great play on the defense. The Loboettes leading scorer by halftime was Emery Smith who had nine of her 15 points come from beyond the arch in the second quarter.

Coming out of the break it was more of the same as Levelland kept pouring it on as they were able to put up another 15 points in the third quarter compared to the Lady Mustangs nine. The score at the end of the third had Levelland leading 50-17.

In the fourth, the Loboettes were able to close it off as they outscored Andrews 13-3, in the closing minutes of the game. The most points the Loboettes allowed in one quarter was nine points in the third.

Levelland was able to out rebound the Lady Mustangs 37to-33 in the game. The Loboettes were also able to force turnovers whenever they wanted as they had 22 steals on the night compared to Andrews three.

The girls shot the ball well from the charity stripe as they shot 82 percent, 21 percent from three and 30 percent on field goals.

The teams was outdone in the blocking category as they only had three blocks compared to Andrews four on the night.

The leading scorer for Levelland was Emery Smith who had 19 points on the night. Olivia Velardez had another eight, Presley Smith had seven and Tanaeasia Brackens had six. Three Loboettes had five points a piece which were Mia Morin, Kaylee Penner and Carly Tienda. Destynii Jones added on another four, Marleah Ruiz had two and Leilani Sanchez had two.

The Loboettes progress to 71 on the year with their next games being played over the weekend this past Thursday through Saturday.
