The Levelland Lobos went on the road to take on the Tulia Hornets this past Tuesday for UIL Baseball Action where the Lobos won 17-2.
Levelland was able to get on the board in the top of the first inning after Rusty Johnson grounded out, and Brayden Moore homered to left field, each scoring one run making the score 2-0.
Levelland would keep it going in the top of the second inning after Noah Tienda hit a double on a line drive to send R.J. Mireles in to make the score 3-0.
The Lobos would be able to get another run in the top of the fourth off of a single from Tienda that would be enough to send Mireles again for another run to make the score 4-0.
At the bottom of the fourth Tulia was able to get a run to go for them after they got a single on a line drive that would send a runner home to make the score 41.
Levelland had a surge of offense as they scored six runs on five hits. Mireles doubled, scoring two runs, Charlie Romo singled, scoring one run, Tienda tripled, scoring two runs and Anson Mcmahan singled scoring one run putting the score out of reach 10-1.
The Lobos wasn’t done as they got anohter seven runs on seven hits in the top of the sixth innings. Jake Potter singled, scoring two runs, Johnson singled scoring two runs, Moore singled, scoring one run, Tyler Pemberton singled, scoring one run and Rance Massey singled scoring one run.
Tienda earned the win for the Levelland Lobos as he gave up 12 hits and two runs over four innings, striking out six and walking none. Boston Winfield threw two innings in relief where he gave up one hit, striking out one and walking two.
The Lobos piled up 21 hits in the game. Johnson, Moore, Romo, Potter and Mireles each collected multiple hits. Levelland didn’t commit a single error in the field. Johnson had the most chances in the field with seven.
Tienda finished 5-5 and Moore going 3-for-4 with a homerun in their contest against the Hornets.
The Levelland Lobos progressed to 10-8-1 on the season as they faced off against Bushland this past Friday as the visiting team and again against the Sundown Roughnecks this past Saturday at home.
