Lobos dealt district road loss against Lakeview, 4-2

The Levelland Lobos traveled to San Angelo Tuesday to take on the Lakeview Chiefs, but would fall 4-2.

Lakeview would find offensive production in the bottom of the second inning, scoring three runs.

The Chiefs three runs would cross on three singles, two hit batters and three defensive errors.

Limited offensive production by both squads would keep the score 3-0, until the top of the sixth inning.

Levelland would make things interesting in the top of the inning with Noah Tienda reaching first on an error. Javier Ruiz would keep the momentum going with a single.

Tienda would score on an error, and Ruiz would score on a sacrifice fly by Rance Massy.

With the Chiefs lead cut down to 3-2, Lakeview would respond by adding one run in the bottom of the sixth.

The Lobos efforts to complete the comeback would fall short in the top of the seventh resulting in the road loss.

The Lobos would score two runs on one hit, and leave three on the bases.

Levelland’s Abram Arteaga would get the start and the loss for Lobos working through two complete innings. Arteaga allowed three earned runs on four hits, and had one strikeout.

Ian Rivera would replace Areaga on the mound and throw three innings in relief.

Rivera allowed one unearned run on three hits, with two strikeouts, and one walk.

Boston Winfield would close out the game pitching one inning, allowing one hit and one strikeout.

The Lobos fall to 13-11 on the season and fall to 3-3 in district play.

Lakeview would improve 4-2 in district.

The Lobos continued their district road stretch on Friday as they traveled to Lubbock to take on the Estacado Matadors.

The Lobos will return to Lobo Diamond Tuesday to host the Liberty Patriots at 7 p.m. Liberty is currently in the top spot in the district race with a 5-1 record.
