The Levelland Lobos were at 24th Annual Gym Bice Tournament in Andrews the over the weekend. They would finish the tournament 4-and-0 with wins over Crane, Andrews, Midland Greenwood, and Denver City, while extending their win streak to 13 games in a row.
Levelland 81, Crane 36 (Thurs.)
Levelland took the first quarter 16-to-six over Crane, and the second quarter 30-to-eight to lead at the half 46-to-14.
The Lobos would win the third quarter 19-to-13, and the fourth 16-to-nine, winning the game 81-to-36.
Leading the Lobos in scoring would be Bryson Golightly with 17 points, while five other Lobos would get double figures including; 15 from Bentley Sepulbeda, 14 from Jeffery Cisneros, 13 from Graham Gibbs, and 10 from both Anthony Gonzales and Ethan Salazar. Levelland would get one a piece from Kane Rice and Kaden Brogden as well.
Levelland shot 11-of-18 from the free throw line for 61%, while Crane shot 8-of-16 for 50%.
Levelland 63, Andrews 54 (Fri.)
The Lobos would take on the Andrews Mustangs for their second win against Andrews and in the tournament. The Lobos would trail after the first quarter 15-to-13, but take the second 21-to-10 and would lead Andrews 34-to-25.
Andrews tied the game up at 45 all in the third outscoring Levelland 20-to-11. The Lobos would then outscore the Mustangs 18-to-nine to win the game.
Leading Levelland in scoring was Ethan Salazar with 17 on the back of two threes, while 14 came from Anthony Gonzales with three threes, 13 from Graham Gibbs with a pair of threes, and 11 from Bentley Sepulbeda. The Lobos also would get four a piece from Bryson Golightly and Kane Rice.
Levelland 61, Midland Greenwood 56 (Fri.)
The Lobos would then go in the back gym at Andrews to get a rematch game with the Greenwood Rangers. The first time these two teams met it was just the second game of the season and the final score was Greenwood 69, Levelland 67.
Through the front two quarters nothing would be solved as it would be tied after one 13 all, and at the half 29 all. The Lobos would then take the three point lead in the third outscoring Greenwood 20-to-17, and the fourth would go Levelland’s way 12-to-10 to win the rematch.
Anthony Gonzales lead the team with 14 points on two threes, and 12 from Bentley Sepulbeda with one three. The Lobos would also get 9 a piece from Bryson Golightly and Ethan Salazar, six from Jeffery Cisneros, five from Graham Gibbs and four from Kane Rice.
Levelland 75, Denver City 36 (Sat.)
Levelland would then take on the Mustangs of Denver City to wrap up the tournament on Saturday evening. Levelland would win the first quarter 24-to-10, but drop the second nine-toeight. The Lobos would lead the Mustangs at the half 32to-19. The second half would belong to Levelland, as they would outscore Denver City in the third 24-to-eight, and 19-to-11 in the fourth to win the game 75-to-36.
Graham Gibbs would have a day finishing with 21 points on three threes leading all scorers. 16 points came from Bryson Golightly with a pair of threes, 14 from Anthony Gonzales with a three, seven a piece from Jeffery Cisneros and Ethan Salazar as both would have a three, four a piece from Noah Martin and Bentley Sepulbeda, and two from Kane Rice.
The Lobos would finish the 24th Annual Gym Bice Tournament with a 4-and-0 record as they extend their win streak to 13 games in a row and an overall record of 13-2.
The Lobos have one more game on the schedule before the Christmas Holiday, as they will play host to the Lubbock Christian Eagles on Thurs., Dec. 18.
