The Levelland Lobos took on the San Angelo Lake View Chiefs this past Tuesday to open up district play as the visiting team where the Lobos lost in a close 3-2 game.
The Levelland Lobos were the first team on the board in the first inning when Tyler Pemberton ground out, scoring one run.
Lake View would answer right back in the bottom of the first inning when the batter singled on a 0-2 count sending a runner in to tie the game at one a piece.
The Lobos were able to take the lead once more in the top of the second when an error scored one run to give Levelland the 2-1 lead.
The game looked like it would be the Lobos to win, but a single hit by the batter in the bottom of the fifth was able to send in two runners after he hit a line drive to left field making Lake View lead the game and take the big district win.
Noah Tienda had a good game as he gave up seven hits and three runs over six innings while striking out 10 and walking one.
Tienda and Brayden Moore each collected two hits for the Lobos.
Pemberton led the team with one run batter in. The Lobos were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Rusty Johnson had the most chances in the field with 11 throughout the game.
The Levelland Lobos fall to 9-10-1 on the season while dropping their district opener against the Lake View Chiefs. The Levelland Lobos took on the Big Spring Steers this past Friday as the away team at 7 p.m. and will get ready to take on the Snyder Tigers this Tuesday at home at 7 p.m.
