The Levelland Lobos went on the road to face off against the Pecos Eagles this past Friday where the Lobos came out on top, 23-12.
The first score of the game came from the Eagles with a run to make the score 6-0 after they missed their PAT.
Levelland answered back with a score of their own thanks to a Boston Winfield pass to Gage Potter from seven yards to make the score 7-6 after they made their PAT.
The next score of the game came from Pecos as they were close to scoring another touchdown but the Lobos defense held the door shut on the Eagles as they had to take their field goal to make the score 9-7, Pecos leading.
The Lobos scored once more from another connected from Winfield to Potter, this time from 56 yards away to make the score 14-9 after another made PAT from Eli Randol going into the halftime break.
Coming out of the break Levelland was on the board first once more after they were able to punch it in from two-yards out with Jake Potter to make the score 20-9 after a missed PAT from the Lobos.
After a long drive from the Eagles was cut short near the endzone, they decided to take another field goal and play it safe to make it a one possession game 20-12.
Levelland was able to get it down the field with ease on the offensive side but decided to just take a field goal and play it safe towards the end as Randol’s kick was good to make the final score of the game 23-12, after Pecos couldn’t do anything with their last possession of the game.
Levelland’s offense did well as they had 314 total yards on the night with 223 through the air and the rest of the 91 on the ground.
Boston Winfield led the team in passing with 223 yards through the air with two touchdowns and one interception on the night.
Jake Potter led the Lobos in rushing with 61 yards on 11 carries with one touchdown on the night. Winfield had another 24 yards on two carries, Eli Randol had three yards on four carries and Bryson Golightly had three yards on one carry.
Gage Potter led the team in receiving with 80 yards on three carries with two touchdowns. Jake Potter had another 59 yards with three catches, Kaden Brogden had 41 yards with four catches, Eryk Jones had 24 yards with two catches and Eli Randol had 19 yards off of one catch.
Randol led the team in tackling with 15 total tackles on the night. Isaiah Avendano had 10, Gage Potter had nine, Noah Tienda had eight, Jones, Gage French and Jake Potter all had six tackles a piece, Zarian Valderas had four tackles, Golightly had three, Deven Ponce had two and seven Lobos all had one tackle a piece in Jesiah Delgado, Matthew Romero, Tanane Brackens, Zaden Carillo, Gabriel Hernandez, Gavin French and Sean Landrum.
The defense accumulated five sacks in the contest with Valderas having two, Jake Potter with one, Golightly with one and Gage French with one.
The Lobos also had six passes deflected with two fumble recoveries.
The Lobo defense did well as they let up 354 total yards with 249 yards on the ground and 105 through the air as they were able to force two turnovers, both fumbles with their tough hitting.
The Levelland Lobos move to 1-1 on the season as they faced the Idalou Wildcats this past Friday on the road.
The Lobos get ready to take on the Brownfield Cubs this Friday on the road at 7 p.m.
