Maidens fall to Klondike

The Morton Maidens took on the Klondike Lady Cougars this last Tuesday for their bidistrict round of playoffs where the team lost 46-31.

The first quarter of the game started off with Morton trailing Klondike early 21-5 due to the Maidens not being able to stop Klondike from driving in the paint.

For the second quarter of play it was closer as the Maidens were able to get 11 points to fall for them before the half while they allowed 12 points.

The score at the halftime break was Morton trailing 33-16.

Leading the Maidens in scoring at the half was Malorie Villerial who had eight points, all of them coming from inside the arch.

Going into the third quarter of play Morton would go cold offensively as they would only get four points to fall for them while their defense held strong only giving up six points before the fourth quarter of the game.

For the final quarter of the game Morton finally outscored Klondike 11-7, but it would be too late as they would fall in the first round of the playoffs.

Villerial led the Maidens in scoring for the night as she finished with 12.

Aerie Rodriguez had another 11 points, Clarissa Holland had four and both Khloe Bordayo and Jayden Keeling finished with two points in the teams loss.

The Morton Maidens finished off their season with a record of 14-15 on the season while also finishing in fourth place in district play.
