Maidens take care of Lady Bulldogs on the road

The Morton Maidens faced off against the Amherst Lady Bulldogs this past Tuesday for their district game where they won 51-20 on the road.

The first quarter of the game for Morton went well as they were able to outscore them and take a close lead on the Lady Bulldogs 10-to-6.

The second quarter for the Maidens was the best as they were able to hold Amherst to only two points in the quarter while scoring 14 of their own to extend their lead to 24-8 at the half.

Aerieana Rodriguez was the leading scorer for the Maidens with nine points at the half, eight of them coming from inside the paint.

Going into the third quarter for the Maidens they wouldn’t slow down as they were able to outscore the Lady Bulldogs 14to-5 and extending their lead even more going into the fourth with the score at 38-15.

For the final quarter of the game they would win the scoring battle once more as they held them to single digits throughout the game each quarter including the last with only seven points allowed and scoring an additional 13 of their own to win the game 51-20.

Rodriguez would finish the game leading the team in points scored with 18 on the night.

Two Maidens finished with eight points a piece in Khloe Bordayo and Clarissa Holland. Two more Maidens were able to finish with six points a piece as well in Alison Yanez and Alexiah Garza. Blaize Garza was able to add on with four of her own and Jayden Keeling would finish with one point of her own on the night.

The Maidens progress to 2-2 in district play and 10-11 on the year.

The Maidens played against the Meadow Lady Broncos this past Friday at home for their fifth district game of the seasson.
