The Morton Indians took on the Ralls Jackrabbits this past Friday on the road in their district matchup where the Indian won, 43-6.
In the first quarter of the game it was a close one as Morton was the first team on the board scoring off of a 42-yard run from Brayden Villarreal to make the score 8-0 after a good twopoint conversion. Ralls answered back with a score of their own from one-yard out to make the score 8-6 after their failed two-point conversion.
The next score didn’t come until the second quarter where Villarreal was able to rush it in for another touchdown from fiveyards out to make the score 16-6 after another made two-point conversion going into the halftime break.
The rest of the second half was all Morton as they had four more touchdowns in their contest with three of them in the third quarter and the last one in the fourth.
The third quarter touchdowns were a Villarreal 17yard run, Hezekiah Silvas fumble return and a Christian Enriquez 23-yard run to make the score 366 at the end of the third.
The final touchdown was a 70-yard pass from Villarreal to E.J. Rivas to make the final score 43-6.
Leading the Indians in passing was Villarreal with 206 yards and one touchdown.
Leading Morton in rushing was Villarreal with 18 carries for 127 yards and three touchdowns. Enriquez had nine carries for 58 yards and one touchdown.
The leading receiver for the Indians was Rivas with seven catches for 154 yards and one touchdown. Jaeden Alvarado had two catches for 24 yards, Enriquez had two catches for 23 yards and Lane Lyon had one catch for five yards.
The team was able to force two turnovers with both being fumble recoveries, one from Silvas and the other from Jorge Regalado.
The Indians had 15 flags thrown on them throughout the game for 96 yards while Ralls had one flag for 15 yards.
Morton had more first downs that the Jackrabbits as well as they had 16 compared to the Ralls two.
The Morton Indians progress to 3-4 on the season as they go 20 in district play. The Indians get ready to take on the Crosbyton Chiefs this Thursday at home at 7 p.m.
