The no. 5 ranked Whitharral Panthers went on the road last Friday and demolished the Cotton Center Elks 60-0 in a UIL Class 1A-2 District 2 high school football action. The game was shorted to one half due to the 45-point rule which states that, in Texas six-man football, when one team is ahead by 45 points or more after halftime, the game is called.
Whitharral racked up 244 yards of offense in the two quarters, while holding Cotton Center to minus 17 yards.
The Panthers were ahead 300 at the end of the first quarter.
Jeryn Ellard hit Jarrett Fryar open for 41 yards at the 9:45 mark. Kaden Smith ran for a 21 yard touchdown with eight minutes left in the quarter. Shamadrick Weaver had a 13 yard touchdown run at the 1:55 point and a 26 yard scoring run at 1:28. The second quarter was a repeat of the first, only with a couple of different faces. Smith had a three yard touchdown to open the quarter.
Jack Griffin found Jordan Torres open for a six yard touchdown at the 5:39 mark. Brent Robinson had a one yard touchdown at the 4:05 mark and ran a Cotton Center punt back for 40 yards with 3:04 left in the half. Ellard went 1-for-4 passing for 41 yards and a touchdown.
Griffin was 3-for-5 passing for 31 yards and a touchdown.
Weaver had six carries for 97 yards and two touchdowns. Smith had four carries for 42 yards and two touchdowns. Robinson had three for 25 yards and a touchdown. Dawson Rodgers had a single eight yard carry.
Fryar had a 41 yard yard touchdown catch. Ryan McDaniel had a 15 yard catch.
Dylin Villegas had a 10 yard catch. Torres had a single six yard touchdown catch.
Rodgers had 3 ½ tackles. Griffin and Nomar Gomez had two each. Torres and Cason Wischkaemper had 1 ½ each.
Robinson and Victor Saenz had an assist each. Robinson also had a 40 yard touchdown punt return.
The Panthers are off this week, but will return to action on October 21 when they host the Lazbuddie Longhorns at 7:30 p.m.
