The Ropes Eagles are the last team in the area still standing as they faced-off against Abernathy in a rematch from earlier this year in a tournament where they lost.
This time around though the Eagles won at the SPC Texan Dome 65-54, to move onto the Regional Finals of playoffs.
The beginning of the game had Ropes falling by one-point as they were outscored 16-15, heading into the second quarter of the game.
That was the only time Abernathy would have the lead as the Eagles did not let up offensively as they scored 12 points in the second quarter while their defense only allowed six points, making the score 27-22, heading into the halftime break.
The leading scorer for the Eagles at the break was Kade Franklin as he was a monster under the basket getting eight of his nine points from down low.
The third quarter the Eagles were outscored once more, this time 12-9, but it didn’t matter though as they still held the lead going into the final quarter with the score sitting at 36-34.
For the final quarter of the game, it was all Ropes as they had their highest scoring quarter of the game with 29 points while Abernathy had 20 go for them. It was a free-throw contest in the end for the Eagles as they got 18 of their points from the charity stripe in the fourth quarter of action.
In the end it was all Eagles as the leading scorer on the team was Kade Franklin as he finished with 16 points. Branson Simental had another 15 points, Reese Williams had 10, Brennan Bearden had nine, Cutter Stumbo had eight, Kolter Dockery had five and Bode Franklin finished with two points.
The Ropes Eagles continue their playoff run with a 18-7 record on the season as they played against Reagan County for the Regional Finals of playoffs at Lamesa High School this past Friday night.
The Eagles beat Reagan County earlier in the year in a tournament 62-52.
