The Ropes Eagles took on the Olton Mustangs this past Thursday in Littlefield for the Bi-District round of playoffs in a one game series where the Eagles won 9-0.
The Eagles got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning after Elijah Flores grounded out and Mason Marmolejo doubled, each scoring one run to make the score 2-0 early.
Ropes wasn’t done with their scoring as they got another five runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Marmolejo doubled, scoring one run, Brady Bryan singled, scoring one run, Kade Franklin doubled, scoring one run, Kanon Buckner tripled, scoring one run and Braxxin Partington was struck by a pitch, driving in a run to extend the Eagles lead 7-0.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Ropes got their final two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning after Bryan tripled on a fly ball to center field and Kade Franklin singled on a line drive to third baseman, each scoring one run and giving the Eagles the 9-0 Bi-District win.
Bode Franklin earned the win for the Eagles as he gave up one hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out 18 and walking one in the game.
Ropes tallied up 11 hits in the game. Kade Franklin drove the middle of the lineup, leading Ropes with two runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Bryan and Colton Mortensen each collected multiple hits for the Eagles. Partington, Mortensen and Marmolejo each stole multiple bases while the team had 10 throughout the game.
The Ropes Eagles progress to 20-6 on the season and are Bi-District Champions as they get ready to take on the winner between Sunray and Shamrock with the time and place TBD at the time of this writing.
