The Ropes Lady Eagles took on the Fort Hancock Lady Mustangs this past Monday for their bi-district round and won and fell to Christoval in the area round.
Ropes 60, Fort Hancock 43
The first quarter of the game started off with the Lady Eagles trailing 9-8 after their defense would not be able to stop the Lady Mustangs from driving inside the paint.
For the second quarter of play Ropes flipped a switch as they were able to get 24 points before the halftime break while only allowing 10 points. Aubrey Bandy was able to scorch the Lady Mustangs from deep range as she had nine of her teams 24 points from long range, while Campbell Latta had another six from beyond the arch.
Going into the halftime break Ropes was leading Fort Hancock 32-19.
Leading the team in scoring at the half was Latta as she had 10 points, six from beyond the arc in the second.
Going into the third quarter of play, Ropes would not slow down as they had another 18 points fall for them while holding the Lady Mustangs to 10 once again in the third.
Once more it would be Bandy that would scorch Fort Hancock this time from inside the paint as she had six points from inside the paint. The score at the end of the third quarter was Ropes holding the 11 point 50-39.
For the final quarter of play Ropes would be outscored 14-10, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Lady Eagles would be able to hold onto the lead and get into the area round of playoffs.
Leading the team in scoring for the Lady Eagles was Bandy as she had 20 points on the night, 10 from under the basket.
Latta and Lacy Bloskas were the only other two to finish in double digits as Latta had 13 and Bloskas had 11 with 10 of her points coming from inside the paint.
Madi Reyna and Bailey Turner both finished with six points a piece and Delyla Stark and Kandis Rodriguez both finished with two points in the team’s win.
Christoval 40, Ropes 32
For the area round of basketball playoffs the Ropes Lady Eagles took on the Christoval Lady Cougars where they lost in a close one 40-32.
The start of the first quarter started off tough for the Lady Eagles as they were able to only get one point while letting the Lady Cougars get 10 to trail by nine early on.
For the second quarter of the game Ropes was able to keep it a bit closer as they were still outscored 10-6 and trailing at the halftime break.
The score at the end of the half was Christoval leading Ropes 20-7.
Leading the team in scoring at the half was Delyla Stark who had four points, all of her points coming from free throw shooting. Going into the third quarter of the game Ropes would still only be able to get six points while giving up 11 to the Lady Cougars falling by even more going into the fourth quarter of the game.
The score heading into the fourth quarter was Ropes trailing 31-13.
For the final quarter of the game Ropes was able to have an explosion of offense go on for them as they would outscore Christoval 19-9 giving them a scare and narrowly losing by eight points to end their season.
Stark led her team in scoring for the night with nine points, six of her points from free throws.
Campbell Latta and Bailey Turner both finished with eight points a piece, Aubrey Bandy had another four points, Kandis Rodriguez had two and Madi Reyna finished with one point.
The Ropes Lady Eagles finished off their great season with a record of 23-9 on the year.
