The Ropes Eagles took on the Reagan County Owls this past Friday in Big Spring for their UIL Boys Basketball area round in basketball playoffs where the team lost 79-55.
The first quarter of the game started off with the Owls taking the huge lead by getting 27 points in the first quarter of the game while the Eagles were only able to get 14 of their own to fall. The Owls had everything falling for them as they had 15 of their 27 fall from beyond the arch while the rest came from down low.
For the second quarter of the game Ropes answered back by outscoring Reagan County 13-8 and cutting the Owl lead down to eight points at the half.
The score at the end of the halftime was 35-27 with the Owls in the lead.
Leading the Ropes Eagles in scoring at the halftime break was Cutter Stumbo who had nine points, six of them from underneath the basket.
Going into the third quarter of the game Ropes defense allowed Reagan County to get 23 points out of the half while they had 16 of their own points fall. Ropes trailed by even more at the end of the third by up to 15 points.
For the final quarter of the game Ropes would be outscored 21-12 to lose their area round matchup.
Stumbo led the team in scoring on the night with nine from the first half of play.
Both Darren Kizer and Landon Nale had eight points a piece, Branson Simental and Kade Franklin had another six points a piece, Brady Bryan, Brennan Bearden and Reese Williams all had five points each and Bode Franklin finished with three points in the teams loss.
Ropes finished off their season with a 24-9 record as Bi-District Champs under Head Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Lane Jackson.
