The Ropes Eagles took on the Morton Indians last Tuesday night for both team’s district openers where the Eagles won, 61-32.
In the first quarter, Morton was on top as they scored 15 points while holding the Eagles to five points, taking a 10 points lead going into the second quarter of the game.
In the second quarter of the game, Ropes was able to outscore the Indians 23-5, taking the lead 28-20, going into the halftime break.
Leading the Eagles in scoring at the half was both Kolter Dockery and Kade Franklin with six points a piece.
For the Morton Indians the leading scorer at the half was Cade Lyon with five points.
Going into the third quarter of the game Ropes offense stayed active as they added another 13 points while they held the Indians to five points extending their Eagle lead to 16, going into the fourth quarter of play.
For the final quarter of action, the Eagles put the game away by outscoring the Indians 20-7, and winning the game 61-32 in their district opener.
Leading the Eagles in scoring was both Kade Franklin and Reese Williams, both with 10 points a piece.
Brennan Bearden and Cutter Stumbo both had nine points, Bode Franklin and Kolter Dockery both had eight, Branson Simental had five and Kaden Riker finished with two.
For the Morton Indians the leading scorer in the game was E.J. Rivas and Cade Lyon with both having seven points a piece.
Three Indians had five points a piece in Britton Boggs, Jaeden Alvarado and Tra Holland and Brayden Villarreal finished the game with three points.
The Eagles progress to 4-1 on the season while going up to 1-0 in district play.
Ropes’ next game of the season is against the Whiteface Antelopes December 31, at home at 3:30 p.m.
The Morton Indians fall to 34 on the season while going down to 0-1 in district play.
The Indians will play against the Klondike Cougars December 31, on the road at 11:15 a.m.
