Eight touchdowns on the ground secured another district win for the Ropes Eagles after defeating the Seagraves Eagles 64-0.
Throughout the first three games in district play, Ropes has rushed for 20 touchdowns as the Eagles remain unbeaten.
Five runners accounted for the rushing touchdowns: senior quarterback Zayden Pittman, senior running back Jaivyth Cruz, and senior quarterback Chase Lantelme, each with two touchdowns, while senior running back Armando Melton and junior halfback/ wide receiver Trevin Riley added one touchdown each. On defense, Ropes forced five threeand- outs and were sure tacklers, with 172 total tackles for the game, including 15 tackles for loss that pushed Seagrave’s offense backwards.
Ropes (8-0, 3-0) is one game closer to becoming district champions again as the next game versus Sudan (5-3, 3-0) will decide the district crown, with both teams sitting at the top of District 2-2A.
“This is for the meat and potatoes,” Jones said. “This is what we work for, and we look to hopefully three-peat.”
The top-seeded district matchup between Ropes and the Sudan Hornets is set for 7 p.m., Oct. 30 in Ropesville.
