Roughettes fall to New Home Lady Leopards

The Sundown Roughettes hosted the New Home Lady Leopards where they lost 64-43.

The first quarter of the game started off with New Home dominating early and taking a huge 24-6 lead.

The second quarter was more of a battle for the Roughettes as they were able to get the edge on New Home outscoring them 20-to-16 and trailing at the halftime break 40-26.

Going into the third quarter of the game Sundown came out flat-footed as they were only able to put up another five points in the quarter while allowing 13 points falling behind even more.

Finally for the fourth quarter of the game the Roughettes were able to outscore the Lady Leopards by one points, but it was too little too late as they fell behind early and wouldnt be able to claw their way back into the game, losing 64-43.

Leading the team in scoring was Allie McCormick who had 18 points on the night.

Kyndall Taggart put up another 11 for the team, Camry Jourden finished with six, Hannah Holdman had five and Yaya Lopez finished with three on the night.

The girls shot the ball well as they went for 32% on the field while going for 17% from beyond the arch. Free throw shooting the Roughettes did well as they were able to shoot for 71%.

The team was outdone on the back boards as they only pulled down 36 boards compared to New Home’s 42 on the night.

Turnover wise Sundown was able to force 16 turnovers while giving the ball up another 23 times throughout the night.

The Roughettes fall to 12-11 on the year while going 2-2 in district play.

The teams next game will be against the Seagraves Lady Eagles where they will be on the road and the game will start at 6:15 p.m.

The Seagraves Lady Eagles are headed into the game going winless in the district with a 0-3 start while going 1-11 throughout the season.
