Roughettes start district with blowout win

The Sundown Roughettes opened up their district play against the Olton Fillies as the visiting team where the Roughettes won 20-0 this past Tuesday.

For the first inning of the game it was out of hand from the start as Sundown was able to get a 7-0 lead after a flurry of events to get them there.

Emry Jourden got to first with a walk then scoring off of a triple from Brynly Gregory and she scored on a single form Breigh Gregory.

Camry Jourden and Paola Huerta got a single as well as Erika Posadas would get a double for the team while they got a two run homerun from Ariel Hernandez.

The only base runner for the Phillies would come from a walk at the bottom of the first inning.

The Roughettes scored two more runs on a triple, a double, and two hit batters.

For the third inning of the game Sundown would score 11 more runs.

The Roughettes had two players reach on errors, two walks, two hit batters, two doubles, four singles and a two run home run from Araceli Ibarra.

Sundown scored on 20 runs off of 15 hits throughout the game, the Roughettes also would not commit a error but leave four players on base.

Breigh Gregory threw all three innings for the Roughettes as she would not allow a run or hit throughout the team’s contest. Gregory would walk one and strikeout six.

The Sundown Roughettes progress to 14-3-1 on the season as they get ready to host the Olton Fillies on Saturday at 11 a.m.
