Sandlin places fifth at State

Jayden Sandlin represented the Sundown Roughettes at the 2A Girls State Golf Tournament this past Monday and Tuesday at the Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin, coming away with a top five individual finish. 

Sandlin placed fifth out of 72 total competitors with a total score of 160, after shooting an 80 in round one and an 80 in round two. She finished only four strokes back of fourth place and 11 strokes back of third place Following Sandlin's per - formance, Sundown Head Golf Coach Kyle Igo on her consistent performance that led to the elite finish.

“Jayden had an outstanding State Tournament. She played very solidly, poised and composed and ended up finishing fifth. Which is quite outstanding to do that against a very stout 2A competition and to do so as a freshman was remarkable," Coach Igo said. “Jayden has a bright future in the game of golf and getting to experience a State Tournament at such a young age is valuable experience she will be able to draw on and propel her forward. She's a great young lady and golfer; we are very proud of her.”
