The Smyer Bobcats went 1-2 with a mid-tournament win at the Anton Classic High School Basketball Tournament last weekend.
Petersburg 41, Smyer 30
The Smyer boys trailed most of Thursday’s 41-30 loss to Petersburg, but were able to keep the score close in the first half. They trailed 6-4 at the end of the first quarter and 15-11 at halftime.
Smyer trailed 24-19 at the end of the third period.
Ryann Gutierrez led the Bobcats with nine points. Brayden Wade had six. Rylan Smith, Austin Martinez and Mason Medart had four each. Micah Zapata had three.
Smyer 52, Patton Springs 49
The Bobcats found themselves in another tight game on Friday, but this time were able to come up with a 52-49 win over Patton Springs.
Smyer led 8-7 at the end of the first period and 21-18 at halftime. The third quarter ended with the Bobcats ahead 37-36. Smith led the Bobcats with 22 points. Gio Garcia, Zapata and Wade had eight each. Gutierrez and Martinez had three each.
Southcrest 76, Smyer 41
The Southcrest Warriors were too much for Smyer in a 7641 Smyer loss on Saturday. The Warriors had a 26-7 lead at the end of the first quarter and were ahead 50-20 at halftime. They led 62-31 at the end of the third quarter.
Smith led the Bobcats with 16 points. Zapata had seven. Wade had six. Gutierrez had five, Garcia had three. Stevens and Martinez had two each.
Smyer will be hosting their own tournament this weekend. Opponents and times will be announced.
