Smyer Bobcats dismantle Titans 13-3, on the road

The Smyer Bobcats took on the Lubbock Titans this past Monday as the visiting team where the Bobcats won after five innings, 13-3.

Smyer started off the scoring in the top of the first inning as Austin Martinez stole home, Kaden Price laid down a sacrifice bunt and Lubbock committed an error, each scoring one run to make the score 3-0.

The Bobcats added onto their lead in the top of the third inning after Lubbock committed an error bringing home Caleb Pearce and Jose Paredes to extend their lead 5-0.

The Titans finally got on the board in the bottom of the third inning after their batter hit a triple on a line drive to center field to drive in a runner and make the score 5-1.

In the top of the fourth inning, Smyer was able to score five runs on two hits. Aiden Martinez hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Paredes drew a walk, scoring one run and another batter singled for Smyer, scoring three runs extending their lead to 10-1.

The Titans finished off their scoring in the bottom of the fourth inning after their batter hit a single to send in two runner to make the score 10-3.

The Bobcats finished off their scoring in the top of the fifth inning after Colton Burriss hit a line drive and reached on an error and Caleb Pearce singled on a hard ground ball to left field while Skylar Pond also scored on a error committed by the Titans defenders, making the final score 13-3.

Austin Martinez earned the win for the Bobcats as he gave up two hits and one run over three innings, striking out one and walking four.

Burriss appeared in relief for the Bobcats as he gave up two hits and two runs (one earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking one.

Pearce and Martinez each collected one hits for the Bobcats. Pearce, Price and Martinez each drove in one run for Smyer.

The Bobcats had patience throughout the game as they gathered seven walks for the game. Paredes, Pearce and Burriss led the team with two free passes each. Pearce stole three bases while the team had four in the game.

The Bobcats progress to 117-1 on the season. Smyer will finish off district play against the Ropes Eagles this Monday as the home team at 4 p.m. and again this Friday as the away team at 4 p.m.
