The Smyer Bobcats hosted the Seagraves Eagles this past Friday night in district play where the Bobcats fell, 30-8.
In the first quarter there was only one score, it was the Eagles with a big 51-yard run to make the score 7-0 after their made PAT.
In the second quarter it was more of the same story as Seagraves had two more touchdowns before the halftime break. One touchdown was off of a 70-yard run and the other was off a 34-yard run to extend their lead to 17-0 at halftime.
In the third quarter is where the Eagles got the rest of their points with two more touchdowns, one 32-yard touchdown run and a 56-yard touchdown pass to make the score 30-0 at the end of the third.
Smyer got their touchdown in the fourth quarter where Ryann Gutierrez had a 12-yard run to make the final score 30-8.
Skyler Pond led the Bobcats in passing with 185 yards with two interceptions.
Leading the Bobcats in rushing was Ryland Smith with 16 carries for 76 yards. Pond had five carries for 27 yards, Gutierrez had three carries for 17 yards and one touchdown, Benevedes had eight carries for 16 yards and Mattox had three carries for six yards.
Leading Smyer in receiving yards was Smith with seven catches for 97 yards on the night. Gutierrez had five catches for 83 yards and Mattox had one catch for five yards.
On the defensive side of the ball for the Bobcats, Matheu Corder led the team in tackles with nine. Micah Stevens had another seven, Alex Mattox had five, Gutierrez and Pond both had four a piece, Caleb Pearce and Sebastian Rodriguez had three a piece and five more Bobcats finished with one tackle on the night in Max Benevedes, Jose Paredes, Tango Pastusek, James Rampy and Wes Tevis.
The Smyer Bobcats fall to 0-8 on the season while going down to 0-3 in district play. The Bobcats will get ready to take on the Plains Cowboys this Thursday on the road at 1 p.m. Plains is coming off of a big loss to the Tahoka Bulldogs on the road, 466.
